VALVE Partner with Movistar Liga for Two Events in South America
While Dota Pro Circuit events are not happening and the future of The International 10 remains up in the air, Valve are looking into ways to support local scenes – their first move in this direction is to financially support a Peruvian tournament organizer Live Media.
The partnership covers two upcoming events within the Movistar Liga Pro Gaming, which will feature a total prize pool of $45,000. The league’s sixth season will be held in this year’s last quarter, featuring a $25,000 prize pool and two divisions. Later Live Media will also organize a Final Series, which will feature seven best teams of the Upper Division and the winner of the Lower Division competing for additional $20,000.
Earlier Valve received a lot of criticism from the community due to their decision to put Dota Pro Circuit on hold and not enough information on the future of indefinitely postponed The International 10. Responding to the feedback, last month Valve announced that Dota Pro Circuit should return in the first two months of 2021, while TI10 will most likely happen in Stockholm in August 2021. However, to fill the remainder of the year with events in different regions, they were going to reach out to multiple tournament organizers to offer them financial support.
