LCK Summer 2020 Transitions to Online
The organizers of the Korean League of Legends league LCK have announced that the remaining matches of the summer split will be played online due to safety concerns. The announcement comes amidst a surge in COVID-19 cases in Seoul, where the league’s headquarters are situated.
For the last months the league was played at LoL Park, the home of LCK, without live audience. Starting from August 21st to the end of the regional qualifier tournament on September 9th the matches within the league will be played online. To ensure the fair game, the league will dispatch referees to each team. Broadcasters will continue working from LoL Park, while the analysis desk will be suspended until further notice.
Currently the league is in the group stage, which will conclude in just few days – on August 23rd. The stage will determine five participants of the playoffs, which will follow a single-elimination King of the Hill format. Current leaders of the league are DAMWON Gaming (15-2), DragonX (15-2), Gen.G Esports (13-4), T1 (12-5) and Freeca Freecs (9-7).
