Head coach of the Brazilian CS:GO team FURIA Esports Nicholas "guerri" Nogueira has shared through his Twitter account that the team will look into getting a sixth player in the next few months. According to the post, Nogueira “thoroughly studied the format of 6 or more players and concluded that it is the future of CS”.

The recent trend to have more than five players in CS:GO was launched by Astralis in March, when they decided to sign Patrick "es3tag" Hansen as a sixth player, and eventually expanded the roster to seven players. Later this model was also adopted by ENCE and mousesports.

The main reason to sign additional players is to give players more time to rest. The issue of fatigue and mental burnout due to heavy schedule was brought up by multiple players – in response to it, ESL decided to reduce the number of events in 2021 from 10 to 8.

Currently FURIA Esports is ranked #9 in the world – just this summer the team managed to win BLAST Premier: Spring 2020 American Showdown, DreamHack Masters Spring 2020: NA and DreamHack Open Summer 2020: NA. Currently they are competing at ESL Pro League Season 12: North America.
