APEX Legends to Get Cross Play Next Week alongside the Aftermarket Event
APEX Legends is going to get a major update on October 6th, which will introduce the cross play feature and start a new collection event Aftermarket with a limited game-mode Flashpoint.
The cross play feature will be released in beta. Enabled by default, the feature will allow players from PC, Xbox and PlayStation to play together. The general logic of the matchmaking is that all console players will play together, while PC players will continue to play with other PC players. However, if console players group up with a PC players, this group will be matched against PC players. Players can disable the cross play feature; however, it will most likely lead to a significant increase in wait time.
The new limited-time mode Flashpoint will be played at Kings Canyon. There will be no healing items spawning in the world; however, players will be able regenerate health and shields over time while being in special Flash Points located in the towns. The only healing item available in the mode – Phoenix Kit – can be obtained through crafting. The zone will be constantly closing and the games will always end on one of the Flash Points.
During the event, players will be able to get 24 limited-time cosmetics, which can be acquired either through direct purchase for Apex Coins or Crafting Materials or through opening Event Apex Packs. Besides that, Caustic will get an heirloom item – a two-handed skull hammer. On top of that, players will be able to get free rewards by completing daily event missions.
